Wildfire Hazard Map Appeals on Hold Until June
As announced in February, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) partnered with Oregon State University (OSU) to develop and release the Wildfire Hazard Map and an online tool to help Oregon residents evaluate the level of wildfire risk to their property.
At that time, there was also an appeals process in place where homeowners could submit a request to modify their property’s wildfire hazard rating or Wildland Urban Interface classification. However, Oregon Governor Kotek has put a hold on referring any appeals to the Office of Administrative Hearings until after the legislative session ends in June.
While this delay is inconvenient, it will allow the Legislature to deliberate any potential changes to the policies governing the wildfire hazard map.
