Our Mission

The Cow Creek Tribal Police Department is dedicated to the protection of life, property, safeguarding individual rights, Tribal sovereignty, and upholding the law with honor, fairness and compassion. The Cow Creek Tribal Police Department adheres to the following core values:

1. Community
   Policing is accomplished with the community. Listen, engage, and work collaboratively to solve problems and maintain trust with the Tribal community and public in general.
2. Respect
   Treat every individual with dignity, regardless of background, circumstance, or opinion. Respect builds trust, and trust is the foundation of effective policing.
3. Integrity
   Our honesty and ethical conduct are non-negotiable. Every decision we make, on duty or off, reflects upon us, our colleges, our department, and the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe.
4. Sovereignty
   Recognize that the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians has the right to self-governance and the authority to make decisions without the interference from external authorities. This sovereignty is recognized by the United State Constitution and allows for the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe to maintain their traditions, manage their resources, and govern their communities according to their laws and customs.
5. Accountability
   Own your mistakes. If mistakes occur, acknowledge them, learn from them, and take corrective steps. We are held accountable to the community we serve.

The Cow Creek Tribal Police serve the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians, their employees, and all visitors on Tribal lands. Tribal police are responsible for patrolling over 49,000 acres of tribal lands within southwest Oregon. The Cow Creek Tribal Police Department is proud to work hand-in-hand with their local law enforcement partners in upholding the all the laws of the State of Oregon.
