COW CREEK FIRE MANAGEMENT HONORED IN PROCLAMATION

Cow Creek Tribal Fire Management staff, comprised of Chief Monte Bryan, Kyle Reed, Nathan Lawrence, Blayke Kelly, and Blain Olbaca, were honored alongside other firefighters and fire personnel by Douglas County Commissioners as part of “Firefighter Appreciation Week,” which ran from July 7 – 13.
The ceremony celebrated those who choose to serve in any capacity in risking their lives for the community. The event also honored the memory of 19 fallen firefighters from Douglas County who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
“We recognize that firefighters are dedicated public servants who place themselves in harm’s way to protect the lives, property, and wellbeing of our communities,” said Commissioner Chris Boice. “Firefighters not only respond to emergencies but also work tirelessly to prevent them through education, training, community outreach, and fire safety programs. We recognize the physical, mental, and emotional demands of this honorable profession, and express deep gratitude for the commitment and sacrifice of every firefighter, past and present.”
