CCTPD Swears In Newest Tribal Police Officer
Brian Melvin, the newest officer of the Cow Creek Tribal Police Department, was sworn in during a ceremony held on April 2.
Born in Roseburg and raised in Douglas County, Oregon, Melvin graduated from South Umpqua High School in 1993 and joined the Marines shortly thereafter, also serving in the Military Police.
After his military service, Melvin worked for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. During his 26 years of service, he worked in the Corrections, Patrol, and Search and Rescue Divisions. During his tenure, he participated in over 1,600 missions, achieved supervisor certifications at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, and won several awards, including a Medal of Valor.
