Governor Holds First Meeting of Administration with Oregon’s Tribes

In her first official meeting as Governor of the State of Oregon, Tina Kotek met with Cow Creek Tribal leaders and officials from the state’s other federally recognized Tribes.

Cow Creek Tribal Chairman Carla Keene and CEO Michael Rondeau attended the meeting with Governor Kotek, as well as her inauguration as Oregon’s 39th Governor on January 9 at the Capitol in Salem.

During her inaugural address, Kotek spoke of recognizing the need for change in the state, and she vowed to work for all Oregonians.

The meeting with Tribal leaders followed the inauguration. Chairman Keene expressed to Kotek the need for increased housing and behavioral health services.

Before being elected Governor, Kotek was the longest serving Speaker of the House in Oregon’s State House of Representatives.
